Bowdoin Names Four Alumni to Board of Trustees

The Bowdoin College Board of Trustees elected four new members during its May 13 meeting.
The new trustees are: Linda G. Baldwin, Class of 1973, of Ross, Ca.; David G. Brown, Class of 1979, of Woodside, Ca.; Michelle G. Cyr, Class of 1976, M.D., of Barrington, R.I.; and Gregory E. Kerr, Class of 1979, M.D., of New York City. Each will serve a five-year term on the board of trustees, which is Bowdoin’s governing body.
Baldwin is CEO of Brookside Enterprises in California and Single Rose Enterprises in New Hampshire. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Bowdoin with a double major in government and mathematics. She later earned a master’s degree in business administration at the Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania. Last year Baldwin established the Baldwin Center for Learning and Teaching at Bowdoin. She is the founder and executive director of Brookside Foundation for Girls’ Sports in California.
Brown is a managing partner with Oak Hill Venture Partners in California. He graduated cum laude from Bowdoin with a double major in economics and government, and he earned a master’s degree in business administration at Dartmouth College. Brown serves on Bowdoin’s Alumni Council and is chair of the Alumni Fund Directors. He sits on numerous corporate and non-profit boards, including the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
Cyr is an associate dean in Brown University’s graduate medical program and director of its internal medicine program. She graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She studied medicine at Dartmouth College. She sits on the boards of the Rhode Island Council on Alcoholism and the Consortium on Substance Abuse, among many other professional appointments.
Kerr is an anesthesiologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital and associate professor of anesthesiology at Cornell University’s Weill Medical College. He was a dean’s list student at Bowdoin. He studied medicine at New York University and recently earned a master’s degree in business administration at Columbia University. Kerr has just completed a two-year term as president of Bowdoin’s Alumni Council. He is a Class Agent and former chair of Bowdoin’s Reunion Participation Committee. He sits on the board of BHAG Foundation, which fosters relationships between inner city schools and business school graduates.
Four trustees whose terms expire in 2000 have been elected to emerita/emeritus status: Joel Abrobsom ’60; Hollis Rafkin-Sax ’78; Jill Shaw-Ruddock ’77; and William Wadman ’49.
