Language Media Center Offers International News Online

Story posted January 15, 1999

Jan. 11, 1999, BRUNSWICK, Maine -- From the library gateway on this site, you can access dozens of newspapers, magazines, radio broadcasts and television shows, as well as books and dictionaries, in Chinese, Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, French and Greek.

All of these resources are free elsewhere on the web, if you can find them, but the Language Media Center has made the search simple by creating links, arranged by language, to media outlets and resources from around the world.

The Language Media Center exists primarily to assist Bowdoin students in the study of foreign languages. Students read foreign language newspapers and listen to radio broadcasts to hone their language skills, or to reminisce about the time they spent studying abroad. International students also use the site to keep up with events back home. But the resource is available to anyone with internet access. If you can read this article, you can read Corriere della Sera online!

To access these lists of international media links from the Bowdoin home page, click on "Library Gateway," then "Branches/Collections" and finally the link to the Language Media Center. Then, simply choose a language.
