Portland Festival Players to Perform at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Portland Chamber Music Festival Players will perform the fourth and concluding concert in the 1997-98 Bowdoin College Concert Series on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center, Bowdoin College. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors 65 and older and free with a Bowdoin ID. Tickets are available weekdays from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Smith Union Information Desk.

The program includes: Beethoven's 11, for clarinet, cello, and piano; Telemann's Canonic Sonata in D Major for two violins; Moszkowski's Suite in G Minor, op. 71, for two violins; and Shostakovich's Trio in E Minor, op. 67, for violin, cello, and piano.

Members of the Portland Chamber Music Festival Players performing at Bowdoin are: Sheila Fiekowsky, violin; Jennifer Elowitch, violin; Carol Ou, cello; Ian Greitzer, clarinet; and Ossie Borosh, piano.

Since its inaugural season in 1994, the festival has presented 20 concerts featuring nationally acclaimed performers and composers from the United States, England and Italy. Festival concerts are often featured on Maine Public Radio's "Mainestage" and have been recorded and broadcast by WGBH-FM in Boston. The festival has recently received grants from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, the Davis Family Foundation and the Hunt Foundation.
