April 28, 1998 Brunswick, Maine-- Bowdoin College senior Adrienne Rupp will present a piano recital on Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center, Bowdoin College. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
The program includes Mendelssohn's Piano Trio in D Minor, op. 49, no. 1, with Joshua Scott '98, violin, and Lauren Webb '00, cello; and Schubert's Fantasy in C Major, op. 15, 'Wanderer.'
Rupp is a Music and English double major from Coventry, R.I. She has studied piano for 13 years with Phyllis Lambert of Coventry and Shirley Mathews, adjunct instructor in piano at Bowdoin. She has also studied violin for two years with Stephen Kecskemethy, adjunct instructor in violin at Bowdoin.
Rupp participated in a chamber music clinic last summer at Brown University with the Charleston String Quartet. A Dean's List student, Rupp has spent this year researching performance practice of early 17th-century Italian music under the direction of Robert Greenlee, associate professor of music. She plans to pursue graduate studies in musicology.
Rupp, Scott and Webb have been performing together for two years. Last year, they performed Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor, op 34, with violinist Daniel Robbins '99 and violist Emily Snow '97. They were coached last year by Julia Adams, adjunct instructor in viola at Bowdoin College. This year the trio has been coached by Mary Hunter, professor of music at Bowdoin.
