Wesley Named Assistant Director Of Public Affairs

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Kevin P. Wesley has been named assistant
director of public affairs at Bowdoin College.
A member of the Bowdoin Class of 1989, Wesley works in the College's
Office of Communications. His responsibilities include the writing,
editing and design of the Bowdoin Bulletin, a weekly news and
events publication, and Personnel Files, Bowdoin's monthly employee
newsletter. He assists Bowdoin's director of public affairs in
the areas of media, government and community relations, and with
management of Bowdoin's site on the World Wide Web. Wesley is
also a contributor to Bowdoin's alumni magazine.
A native of Beverly, Mass., Wesley most recently served as assistant
managing editor of the Boston Business Journal, where he was responsible
for the newspaper's small-business section and special projects.
Previously, he served as design editor and business editor of
the Beverly (Mass.) Times. He also was the advisor for the Beverly
(Mass.) High School newspaper, The Ledger, from 1989 to 1995,
during which time it was named Outstanding High School Newspaper
four times by the American Scholastic Press Association.

he has been at Bowdoin, Kevin has already done much to improve
our news and information publications, and has shown that he possesses
the experience and skills to tell Bowdoin's various stories to
a diverse audience," said Associate Vice President / Director
of Public Affairs Scott W. Hood. "Kevin is a great addition to
our communications team. We're happy to have him back in Brunswick."
Wesley majored in economics and music as a student at Bowdoin
and served as editor of the student newspaper, The Bowdoin Orient.
He also served as chair of the Student Activities Fee Committee.
He was recipient of the 1989 Paul Andrew Walker Prize and the
1986 Bowdoin Orient Prize, both given for outstanding contributions
to the Orient. A James Bowdoin Scholar in 1986, Wesley was a founding
member of the Student Admissions Volunteer Organization; a member
of the Student Executive Board; the Bowdoin Chamber Choir; the
Masque and Gown theater group; and the Meddiebempsters, a men's
a cappella singing group.
