Music at the Museum: An Evening of "Minimalist Music" with George Lopez

  • 10/9/2014 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Museum of Art, Pavilion
  • Event Type: Concert

George Lopez will offer an evening of minimalist works by Philip Glass, Arvo Part and John Adams.  Like Tuttle's use of elemental objects such as paper, wire, or plastic bags, minimalist composers of the "The Age of Protest" conceptualized a radically repetitive music in the 1960's using the simplest of musical motives as a reaction to the elaborate and labyrinthian music matrices of Schoenberg, Babbitt and Boulez. Presented in conjunction with Richard Tuttle: A Print Retrospective.

This event is free, but tickets are required as seating is limited.  Tickets will be available at the Museum Shop beginning on September 1, 2014.  For more information please call Christine Piontek at (207) 725-3276 or email cpiontek@bowdoin.edu.
