In its inaugural event, J Street U Bowdoin hosts Lara Friedman, the director of policy and government Relations for Americans for Peace Now.
Lara Friedman formerly worked in the foreign service, having been located in Jerusalem, Washington, Tunis, and Beirut. She is an expert on U.S. policy in the Middle East, Congress and the Middle East, Israeli settlements, and Jerusalem. As a consequence, she meets frequently with members of Congress and congressional staff, administration officials, foreign diplomats, and other members of the foreign policy community.
This event will encourage a critical discussion of Arab-Israeli issues. Specifically, Friedman will highlight the importance of the peace process and the "Two-State Solution," which recognizes Arab and Jewish national self-determination.
