Think About It

This section is included to encourage readers to re-create the feelings of these slave women. The best way to understand something is to relate it to personal memories, emotions, and experiences. Harriet Jacobs used this method to gain support in the abolitionist North; that is, she designed her story (i.e., what incidents she included and the syntax) to obtain sympathy for the freedom movement. Hopefully, you will put some real thought into the questions presented in each section, and bring everything together in the site assignment. Jotting down some ideas might help, but there is no need for a huge essay in each topic.
