Workshop


In the Workshop, the Writing Project offers one-on-one writing assistance to writers in any course and at any phase of the writing process. Students can reserve a conference or drop in during open hours. Walk-in clients will be welcomed as time permits on a first-come, first-served basis. All conferences are held in the Center for Learning and Teaching on the first floor of Kanbar Hall. To reserve a conference, use our on-line reservation calendar.

Writing Assistants conducted over 500 conferences in the Writing Workshop during the academic year 2012-13, in addition to more than 1000 conferences in connection with Writing Project courses.

Workshop Hours

Sundays, 6:00-10:00p.m.
Monday-Wednesday, 7:30-10:00 p.m.
Thursday afternoon, 2:45-5:00 p.m.

  • If at all possible, bring your draft early enough that you still have time--at least a day-- to revise it after the conference.
  • If your paper is 8 pages or longer, please sign up for two, back-to-back, 45 minute conferences with the same WA.
  • Please arrive on time so that you don't lose your slot.  If you are more than 10 minutes late, a waiting writer may take your slot.

TIPS: How to have a successful conference

  • Bring a copy of the assignment with you.
  • Bring a draft, outline or list of ideas.
  • Take charge! Come to the conference with an idea of what you want to work on. 

The Workshop is run by students for students... so take advantage of this unique opportunity to get some helpful feedback from your peers!
