First-Year Dorm Eco-Reps

Since 2004, Bowdoin's EcoReps have worked to integrate Sustainable Bowdoin's mission into student life by improving communication between students and the administration, organizing projects to introduce new students to Bowdoin's environmental commitment , and offering constant reminders of the individual's obligation to the planet and a greener future.

First-year Eco-Reps are tasked with being a resource for their dorm on all things sustainability related. Their goal is to meet everyone in their dorm to introduce them to Bowdoin's environmental commitment and promote the many ways that students can get involved.

Appleton - Holden Turner

Appleton - Holden Turner

Hi everyone! My name is Holden Turner, I’m the Eco-Rep for Appleton Hall, and I hail from New Haven, Connecticut. I’m an Eco-Rep because I am committed to making choices that reflect a healthy and engaged connection to our environment, whether in the Maine wilderness on a BOC trip or in the middle of reading assignments in H-L. I would love to help my dorm by establishing programs that can make our lives more efficient, and therefore sustainable - it doesn’t have to be hard to respect your spaces. I’m especially interested in renewable energy sources and the initiatives of the Climate Action Plan. You can often find me sketching or riding some two-wheeled contraption around campus, and I can juggle (sometimes). My favorite animal is a hedgehog.

Maine - Mo Kilani

Maine - Mo Kilani

My name is Mo Kilani, a freshman from Amman, Jordan. I am absolutely thrilled to be the designated EcoRep for Maine Hall this year. As a student, I find it exceptionally phenomenal to attend a school that is conscious of its energy use. It was not until I moved to the United States when I realized the importance of environmental awareness. Unfortunately, the majority of Jordanian society does not pay attention to either its energy consumption or waste disposal—degrading its surrounding habitat in the process. Immigrating to Maine revitalized hope for my family and I, both environmentally and economically.

Moore - Liam Bowie

Hey Everyone! My name is Liam Bowie and I’m the Eco Rep for Moore this year. I’m from Berwick, Maine and love the natural beauty of my state. At Bowdoin I’m a part of the cross country and track teams, and am the only person I know who has a fantasy track team. As an Eco Rep, I’m excited to get other people excited about saving energy and the planet. I love the outdoors and want to keep nature looking just the way it is. I can’t wait to get to know everyone here and hopefully get you all as pumped about sustainability as I am.

Osher - Kevin Chi

Hello everyone! My name is Kevin Chi, and I am representing Osher as the first-year Eco-rep this year. I come from Seoul, South Korea, but have lived in Seattle, WA for two years and went to a boarding school in Monterey, CA for the recent four years. I deeply appreciate what nature has to offer us and that is my main motivation behind getting involved in environmental action. In addition to being an Eco-rep, I play the clarinet for Bowdoin orchestra and love to go on Outing club trips. I also love music, coffee brewing and following professional sports. If you ever want to talk about anything from sustainability to your favorite tree on campus and how OKC Thunder is going to win NBA finals in this season, find me in Osher 412

West - Eugen Cotei

West - Eugen Cotei

Hello everyone! My name is Eugen Cotei, I was born and raised in Romania and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when I was nine years old. My move to Las Vegas served to be a big shock from the environmentally centered community I was used to back home in the Carpathian Alps, but eventually I came to love the desert and what it offers in terms of outdoor activities: rock hounding, fossil hunting, rock climbing, and breathtaking hiking. In Maine, I hope to not only continue some of my outdoor passions, but also work progressively towards good sustainability habits in my dorm and school as well. As an Eco Rep, I am so thrilled to partake in some amazing activities with some amazingly passionate students as well as get to know everyone in the dorm!

Winthrop - Anneka Williams

Winthrop - Anneka Williams

Hey everyone! My name is Anneka Williams and I’m psyched to be Winthrop’s Eco Rep! I’m from Waitsfield, Vermont. Growing up, my family had a big organic garden, chickens, fruit trees, bees, and - when I was younger - a yak farm, so I’m super into the localvore movement and love growing my own food. In addition, living in rural Vermont gave me the opportunity to try many different outdoor activities. I love hiking, backpacking, canoeing, rafting, running, camping, and skiing. My favorite eco-activities include going to farmers’ markets, gardening, appreciating nature, and eating lots of vegetables!  On campus, I am looking forward to being involved in Plant-Powered Polar bears, Green Bowdoin, the Outing Club, the Bowdoin Globalist, and various other student organizations. I run on the cross country and track and field teams, as well.  I’m super excited to be joining the Bowdoin community and can’t wait to engage with all of you in meaningful conversations regarding sustainability!
