Field Placement and Outreach Coordinator

Laura serves as the primary liaison between the Education Department and area public schools, and secures field placements for Bowdoin students in Education courses and the Bowdoin Teacher Scholars program. She also manages community engagement initiatives and special programs in the Education Department, including the Bowdoin Teacher Scholars, Island Schools Project, and Harvest Urban Teaching Immersion program in New York City.

Laura Sweet joined the Education Department at Bowdoin in 2017 after working with an international education nonprofit for over a decade. She also previously worked overseas for field-based study abroad programs in Australia and the Solomon Islands. Laura earned her B.A. in Geography from University of Colorado Boulder, M.A. in Anthropology from University of California Santa Barbara, and M.A. in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute.
