Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Natural Sciences Emeritus Nathaniel T. Wheelwright was recently a featured guest on Maine Calling, Maine Public’s radio call-in program, discussing his Nature Moments video series, which is now approaching its end.

The year-long series, filmed mostly in or near Wheelwright’s backyard in Brunswick, Maine, features short, two-minute videos, designed to encourage people to take more notice of the changing natural environment on their doorstep. The series was conceived as a companion to The Naturalist’s Notebook, by Wheelwright and Bernd Heinrich (Storey Publishing, 2017), which provides guidance and a systematic format for making natural history observations, with 100 percent of royalties going to conservation and environmental education.

Wheelwright was joined on the program by Assistant Professor of Biology Patty Jones, who directs the Bowdoin College Scientific Station on Kent Island. Listen to Wheelwright and Jones on Maine Calling on September 14, 2018.

The final Nature Moments video will air during the week starting September 24, 2018.
