Black History Month at Bowdoin began this year  with a mountaineering movie and concluded with a poet. In between, students got the chance to see the new Marvel superhero movie Black Panther, hear black perspectives on history, politics, and art, and check out a Duckwrth concert.

While some Black History Month events at Bowdoin are annual traditions, like the longstanding Ebony Ball, other events were new this year, including the African Art Festival.

In the video above, we caught up with some students at the African Art Festival, both those who helped organize the festival as well as a few who just came out to enjoy it, to ask them what Black History Month means to them.
