Nature Moments: Sharing Your Lawn and Saying 'No' to Pesticides

In his latest edition of Nature Moments videos, Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Natural Sciences Nat Wheelwright has the following advice for anyone thinking of putting pesticide on their lawn:

“You’d have to really hate butterflies, beetles and bugs to spread insecticides all over your lawn. Once you take a closer look at the ingredients and cautions, you may decide to share your lawn with other living creatures.”

Nature Moments was launched to celebrate the publication of The Naturalist’s Notebook. Written by Wheelwright and Bernd Heinrich, emeritus professor of biology at the University of Vermont, the book encourages people to observe and record their natural surroundings in a five-year journal.

The authors are donating 100 percent of their royalties to support conservation and environmental education.
