With the Grand Tetons serving as the backdrop, the Bowdoin community in Jackson Hole gathered at Andy Schilling ‘82’s house on July 13 for an evening of good food and good fun. It didn’t take much to attract a full crowd of Polar Bears from across the generations, and while there have been several past events held during the winter, this was one of the first summertime Bowdoin get-togethers in Wyoming. Andy and his daughter, Liz Schilling ’19, were gracious hosts.
Special guests included Matt Klingle and Connie Chiang (both associate professors of history and environmental studies) who shared information about the new Roux Center for the Environment and its anticipated impact on students and faculty. Also present were Board Trustees David Brown ’79 and Debbie Barker ’80, P’16. Kristin Gunther ’09 stepped up to help welcome guests as they arrived.
“A very nice event in a wonderful setting, and we met a bunch of interesting people from the greater region,” noted George Phocas ’90. “All such nice, warm, and interesting new friends,” echoed Ed Poole ’82, who traveled the farthest from San Francisco to join the fun.
With the musicians playing in the background and a fabulous sunset, no one wanted to leave. “Hopefully, the success means it will happen again,” commented Charlie Moyer ’05. A few adventurous souls even headed out the next morning together for a hike in the park.
