Susan Faludi
Feminist author Susan Faludi, who taught at Bowdoin recently as its Tallman Scholar in Gender and Women’s Studies and is currently a research associate here, has won the 2016 Kirkus Prize for nonfiction.
The prize, awarded by the literary publication Kirkus Reviews, gives three writers $50,000 apiece in the categories of fiction, young reader’s literature, and nonfiction.
Kirkus Reviews praised Faludi’s memoir, In the Darkroom, for its depiction of her father’s gender transition, calling the book “a moving and penetrating inquiry into manifold struggles for identity, community, and authenticity.”
