Bowdoin’s Faith Groups Gather for Interfaith Service of Thanksgiving

It has become a tradition at Bowdoin for the college’s faith groups to gather in the chapel on the Sunday evening before Thanksgiving to share an “Interfaith service of Gratitude and Thanksgiving.”

This year, members of the Muslim Student Association, Catholic Student Union, Hillel, and Bowdoin Quakers — as well as a Buddhist student and a Christian student — offered readings, prayers, and personal reflections.

Student musicians also participate. This year, August Posch ’18 played cello, Anne McKee ’20 played violin, and Matthew Maguire ’19 played the piano. Elizabeth Givens ’17 sang a couple of songs.

Director of Religious and Spiritual Life Bob Ives offered a welcome, and Reza Jalali, advisor to the Muslim Student Association, gave a closing blessing.
