Franz Discusses Changing Nature of Political Advertising in Latest Book

Franz book

With the 2016 US presidential elections less than six months away, Associate Professor of Government Michael Franz said SuperPACs have transformed political advertising in America.

Franz is one of three authors of Political Advertising in the United States (Westview Press, 2016).

It’s a comprehensive survey and analysis of the political advertising landscape, and how campaign finance laws and other factors have affected it.

The other two authors are Erika Franklin Fowler, assistant professor of government at Wesleyan University, and Travis Ridout, Thomas S. Foley Distinguished Professor of Government and Public Policy, and associate professor in the school of politics, philosophy and public affairs at Washington State University. The three are co-directors of the Wesleyan Media Project.

Franz spoke with College Writer and Multimedia Producer Tom Porter in late April, before Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropped out of the GOP presidential race.
