Martha Hodes '80 Wins Major Prize for 'Mourning Lincoln'

Martha Hodes ’80 is being recognized for her book Mourning Lincoln, published in 2015 by Yale University Press. The book is described as “culmination of years of research focusing on the personal reactions of Americans across regional, racial, economic, and political lines to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.” Hodes, who is Professor of History at New York University, has been awarded the 2016 Gilder Lehrman Lincoln Prize, which is awarded annually for the finest scholarly on Lincoln or on the civil era.
