BPS Maine Government Fellowships

The Bowdoin Public Service Maine Government Fellowship program provides students with a 10-week funded summer placement in a Maine state or local government office.

Overview:

The 10-week fellowship includes a $5000 stipend, and fellows are eligible for on-campus housing (if available in summer 2021). In addition to their placements, students will complete a bi-weekly journal reflection on their experience, and meet periodically with other fellows and staff in order to contextualize the experience. Additional application information can be found here and placement site descriptions can be found here.

As part of the fellowship program, fellows are required to:

  • Participate in orientation to the program prior to the start of the fellowship;
  • Maintain a journal on the internship experience;
  • Gather periodically with other fellows and staff for discussions;
  • Present a summary of the experience at the end of the summer;
  • Participate in an evaluation of the program at the end of the summer.
