Purchasing a Computer

Bowdoin recommends that incoming students who want to buy a computer purchase a laptop.  Apple and Dell offer special discounted pricing to Bowdoin students. We are happy to offer the Managed Laptop Program.  If you buy the recommended package, Information Technology Student Services will provide additional support and assist with any warranty issues.  They will stock spare parts and loaner computers to have your managed laptop up and running again quickly.

This year's recommended package is

  • PC: Dell E6540 with a 4 year complete care (accidental damage) warranty
  • Apple: Macbook Pro 15" Retina Display or Macbook Pro 13"Retina Display with 3 year Applecare Warranty

Visit the Dell or Apple site customized with Bowdoin discounts!

Remember, Bowdoin will provide you with a free copy of Microsoft Office and Antivirus Software, offered to students under our licensing agreements. Be sure not to pay extra for this software when you purchase your computer!

IT's Technical Purchasing Manager, Sarah Morgan, (smorgan@bowdoin.edu), is happy to answer any questions you may have about purchasing a new computer.
