Time Off Without Pay

Policy: The College provides an employee with a variety of benefit time to cover for time off from work. This benefit time includes: sick time, holidays, vacation, bereavement leave, jury duty as well as other approved Leaves of Absence. Employees are expected to save appropriate levels of accrued time in sick and vacation banks to cover for absences. Supervisors should review an employee’s absenteeism for excessive patterns and for an employee’s failure to maintain appropriate accrual balances. Time can not be taken unpaid in order to save benefit time. Only with supervisor approval and only on a limited case by case basis, can an employee take time unpaid. Employees can not borrow against anticipated benefit time accruals.
