The new Roux Center for the Environment will support faculty and students across the environmental disciplines at Bowdoin College. Its design is intended to facilitate a new way of teaching, learning and scholarship and will leverage the interdisciplinary pedagogy already common among the academic departments envisioned as users of the facility. As a center of environmental education, the facility will also serve as a teaching lab of sustainable and innovative building technologies.

The building is a new three-story 29,167 sf academic building located at the corner of Harpswell Road and College Street. The structure will consist of classrooms, teaching labs, research labs, faculty offices, conference rooms, common spaces/corridors, ancillary storage spaces as well as other miscellaneous support spaces are also included in the program. The project is designed to meet Platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U. S. Green Building Council.

Construction began in June of 2017 and the center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018.
