Mind-Body Work

There is mounting evidence that mind-body techniques such as biofeedback, mindfulness practice, and hypnosis affect our physical, cognitive, and emotional well being.

Several clinicians at the Counseling Service are trained in various mind-body techniques including but not limited to Biofeedback, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Guided Imagery, Hypnosis, and Mindfulness Practice.

These techniques may help in addressing stress management, sleep difficulties, anxiety and panic, performance anxiety (athletic and academic), as well as the management of chronic health conditions. Those students for whom it is clinically relevant, are given the choice to explore how the mind and body can affect one another in both constructive and maladaptive ways.

Mind-body practices may stand alone or be incorporated into more traditional psychotherapy. If you have any questions regarding mind-body work, please call Lindsay Jacobs at 725-3145.

In addition to Mind-Body interventions offered at the Counseling Center, the Buck Center for Health and Fitness offers many classes and events to support wellness on campus.
