BOLT Conducts Two-Question Poll During March Faculty Meeting

At the faculty meeting on March 9, BOLT conducted a two-question poll to gain insights into effective practices faculty are both currently using and planning to continue using upon the return to campus in the upcoming academic year.

The results were posted in a discussion forum in the Faculty Meeting Organization on Blackboard where faculty were encouraged to not only review and reflect on the responses but also share their thoughts by engaging in an asynchronous discussion on the findings.

The first poll question focused on the use of Blackboard during the fall 2021 semester. Most faculty said they would continue to use Blackboard for delivering course content followed by using it to collect assignments. Two-hundred and ninety-one faculty responded.

Poll question one. How will you continue to use Blackboard next semester?

The second question focused on ways technology may be used to support in-person classes. Out of one-hundred and seventy-one responses, seventy-one faculty will continue to use their iPad followed by fifty-five who will continue to offer online office hours.

Poll question two. What technology will you continue to use in your in-person classes?

The BOLT team will continue to conduct these short polls during the remaining faculty meetings this Spring. The results will inform the decision-making process and help to determine where there may be a need to modify or expand the current technology toolset as well as where and how we may need to modify the existing training and support options currently available to faculty and students.
