Awards

The John L. Howland Book Award in Biochemistry is given each year to a student who has achieved academic and general excellence in the biochemistry program at the end of the junior year.

The award is in honor of John L. Howland, a member of the Bowdoin faculty from 1963 to 2002 and the Josiah Little Professor of Natural Sciences and professor of biology and biochemistry, who founded the biochemistry program at Bowdoin in 1971.
