About

Assyria to America examines the ancient and modern histories of Bowdoin’s six reliefs from ancient Nimrud bringing them together, for the first time in their 150-year history at Bowdoin, with ivory furniture inlays, cuneiform tablets, cylinder seals, and palace vessels to explore the sumptuous sensory experiences and vibrant court life of the Neo-Assyrian empire.

Critical support for the Assyrian Collection at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art is provided by the Yadgar Family Endowment.
