Interviews

We don't need to meet you to know if you're a good fit for Bowdoin. (But we'd still love to say hello!)

Interviews for Fall 2024 applications are now closed.

Please note that any interview for Bowdoin is optional and not a required component of the application

All applicants are encouraged to complete the optional video response, which also offers an opportunity to add a different dimension to your application.

Interview with Admissions Staff and Students

In-person and virtual interviews are available with an admissions staff member or trained student interviewer. The interviewer will guide the course of this give-and-take conversation, and there will be plenty of time for you to ask questions. Interviews for fall 2024 applicants are available June through November.

Only one interview is permitted per student—and no matter how you interview or with whom—it will count as official.

Questions? Contact the Bowdoin Admissions Office.

Interviews with Bowdoin Alumni

In-person and virtual interviews with Bowdoin alumni are available September 1 through early December 1 to applicants seeking admission as a first-year student in fall of 2024*. They are a great way to connect with Bowdoin and learn more about the College.

*Due to the high volume of requests, interviews for international students are only available to those who have already applied to Bowdoin. We encourage you to apply to improve the possibility of an interview.

For veterans and current members of the U.S. military

You may request a virtual interview by using the veteran interview request form. Please refer to the form for deadlines.

For international applicants:

For students in China: Due to the volume of requests from China, we cannot guarantee you will receive an interview. We prioritize interviews for Chinese students who have applied to Bowdoin. We encourage you to apply to improve the possibility of an interview.

For all international applicants: Bowdoin also accepts independent interviews from vendors, such as Initialview or Vericant, from our international applicants. These interviews will provide you with an opportunity to display your communication and reasoning abilities, as well as your enthusiasm for becoming a successful student at Bowdoin. Following this conversation, a report and video of your interview will be sent directly to Bowdoin from the vendor. We recommend registering early for these opportunities as soon as possible to ensure that your materials arrive in our office before the application deadline.
