Dear [Contact Name],

As an alumni volunteer for Bowdoin College, I am hopeful that [High School] would be interested in participating in the Bowdoin College Book Award Program this spring. [If applicable, note your connection to the school or area here.]

The Bowdoin College Book Award recognizes a student in the junior class who has demonstrated “Extraordinary Service to the Common Good and an Unusual Passion for Inquiry, Discovery, and Innovative Thinking.” The selection of the award recipient would be made by your administration based on Bowdoin’s award description. Bowdoin will provide you with the book, which I will help to coordinate. Your administration has the option to select the book from three possible titles. Alternatively, I am happy to select a book about which I’m especially excited. [If you indicated a specific book choice on your request form, please assert that rather than giving the school a choice.]

At this time, all that I need from you is confirmation that you are interested in honoring a junior with the Bowdoin Book Award this spring. Eventually, Bowdoin will also require the name of the recipient, their email address, and the date of the awards ceremony. If you are interested and if scheduling and policy allow, I’d be glad to present the award during your school’s award ceremony.

I look forward to speaking with you further about [High School]’s interest in honoring a junior with the Bowdoin Book Award. Please feel free to respond via email [your email address] or phone [your phone number].

Sincerely,
[Your Name and Class Year]
