No set of statistics or averages can define a Bowdoin student—each of whom are entirely different from one another—but on the whole, the college admits young people who are thoughtful, driven, and curious.

Applicant Pool for the Class of 2022

The acceptance rate for the Class of 2022 was 10.3 percent. The applicant pool consisted of 9,081 candidates, up from 7,251 for the Class of 2021, representing a 25 percent increase. The diverse pool of admitted students represents all 50 states along with D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands and 40 countries.

Testing Profile for the Enrolling Class of 2022

Bowdoin was among the first colleges not to require standardized testing, starting in 1969. For those who chose to submit testing: 93% of SAT submitters scored above 650 on SAT EBRW and 94% scored above 650 on SAT M.
