Student Affairs. Bowdoin Outing Club and Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center

Bowdoin Outing Club (BOC) offers students the opportunity to explore the natural wonders of Maine both near and far from campus. With more than 400 members, the BOC coordinates trips for all comfort levels, experiences, and ambitions. Student leaders in the BOC plan more than 100 excursions each year focusing on hiking, whitewater kayaking, rafting, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, stand-up paddle boarding, Nordic and telemark skiing, and winter camping. The BOC headquarters is located in the Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center and has 5,300 square feet of classroom and programming space and is home to a wide assortment of outdoor gear for student use. Staffed by three full-time professionals, the BOC offers instructional classes and professional certification in whitewater paddling and telemark skiing, and, through the Leadership Training program, prepares students to lead peer group expeditions.
