Bowdoin College Policies on Faculty Diversity
Bowdoin has long been committed to the goal of increasing the range of backgrounds and differences represented in the faculty as part of the College’s larger aim to cultivate a community characterized by as much cultural and intellectual variety as possible.
A variety of initiatives and efforts over the years reflect these goals. In 2008 and 2009, the Faculty voted to renew and affirm this commitment with the approval of a target-of-opportunity hiring policy, a policy on increasing faculty diversity, and subsequently the creation, and continuation, of a Committee on Faculty Diversity.
