Appalachian Data

To access the lithotectonic data first connect to the CBGIS drive.

All data is under CBGIS/Appalachian Data/

It is further divided into 2 sections, North and South

Each of these is broken down into 2 sections, base and geology. Base has the basemaps and waterbodies. Geology has the faults and different formations.

These are the primary files from the Appalachian data set that you will want to use.

• geo2096_x_arc = provides outlines for different formations and water bodies
• geo2096_x_leg = legend for CODE found on geo2096_x_ply
• lin2096_x_arc = lines showing fault lines
• geo2096_x_ply = provides polygon shapes of the various formations... join with geo2096_x_leg or _sym on the CODE attribute to get more in depth info about each code.
• GEO2096_1.LVL = more info for the GEO2096_1.LEG info file that you can join based upon the LEVEL attribute
