Walker's Beside-Crest-Lizard
Parasaurolophus walkeri
(Parks, 1922)

Parasaurolophus walkeri, although small compared to the other North American hadrosaurs, is nonetheless a fascinating creature.  The crest on its head, a greatly enlarged sinus, functions as a resonating chamber for the booming calls of this species.  These whale-like calls are used during the mating ritual of this species and also to help members of the same herd locate each other in dense forest.
Thanks to rlo7464 for suggesting that I paint this species when he visited my Guestbook.
