Giganotosaurus carolinii

In the Cretaceous, South America is an island-continent, and the organisms that live here are quite different from the more orthodox inhabitants of Laurasia. While the tyrannosaurs are the largest predators of North America and Asia, in South America, allosaurs like Giganotosaurus carolinii remain dominant.
G. carolinii is an immense predator, larger even than is the North American Tyrannosaurus rex. G. carolinii uses its bulk to down titanosaurs, tremendous sauropods that could easily overpower a carnivore of lighter weight.
