
Welcome! YALP focuses on offering programs which help Seniors transition to life beyond Bowdoin. Seniors are invited to learn how to stay involved post-graduation by attending the programs listed at right. Bowdoin Alumni returning to campus will also share their wisdom on real world issues such as networking, finances, health care, and insurance.

Thursday, February 3rd- Scott Meiklejohn, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, took a break from reading applications to meet with YALPers. He discussed the priorities of the College in their pursuit of a class of “well-rounded class of individuals.”

On Monday, November 15, YALP teamed up with the Finance Society to host Jeff Goldenberg for dinner and a lively discussion in the Cram Alumni House. Jeff graduated from Bowdoin in 1977 and, after graduating from Columbia Business School, he joined Goldman Sachs full time.

On Thursday April 1, Barry Mills spoke to the members of the Young Alumni Leadership Program about his role as President of Bowdoin College. President Mills established a relaxed and casual atmosphere in the Cram Alumni Barn, in which he spoke personably to current Seniors about everything from his time as a Bowdoin student, to his career in corporate law in New York City, and finally about his progressive involvement in Bowdoin, culminating in his position as President.

In a very personal presentation about his time in Planning and Development at Bowdoin, Bill Torrey spoke to members of YALP about something we usually don't see as students - fundraising. In his 22 years at the College, Torrey has seen a lot of changes in social life on campus and reflected on the anger that many students felt regarding Bowdoin's decision to close the fraternity system.

Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, Scott Meiklejohn, took some time out of his busy schedule to address YALP on Thursday, February 18th. At a time when Admissions officers concentrate on reading all applications before the month-long committee begins, he talked to the group about the priorities of the institution – attracting the best and the brightest students to the College and making a Bowdoin education available for all qualified.
