Gender and Women's Studies Program

Gender and Women's Studies Program at Bowdoin College is an interdisciplinary program that incorporates into the curriculum recent research done on women and gender.

Through courses in Gender and Women's Studies Program, students investigate the realities and meanings of women’s lives across cultures and historical periods, in light of the social construction of gender. To date, the Gender and Women's Studies Program curriculum at Bowdoin has incorporated classes in over twenty different fields, including Anthropology, Art History, English, History, Music, Religion, Russian, Science, Sociology and Theater and Dance.
