Openings Spring 2009
38th Annual Spring Dance Performance
April 23 - 25, 2009
A single hour-long dance titled "Openings" performed by students in repertory classes under the direction of Theater and Dance Department faculty, Gwyneth Jones and Paul Sarvis. "Openings" was an exploration and disruption of the traditional proscenium theater space - a meditation on the visual frame - and an invitation for audience to experience both the space and the dance in new ways. The dance was performed to music ranging from small jazz ensemble to new string quartet--from Motown to the Beatles--and featured a stage set by nationally recognized designer, Victor Becker.
