Carpooling and Electric Car Charging

Carpooling with the Go Maine NuRide Website: is where you can find free, money-saving, energy efficient commuting solutions. GO MAINE is the statewide commuter services program sponsored by MaineDOT and the Maine Turnpike Authority.  In the fall of 2015 GO Maine began a partnership with NuRide, the nation’s largest commuter rewards program.  With NuRide you can now be rewarded for your green transportation choices. It’s easy and free! Simply go to, fill out your profile, find your ride matches, record your trips and get your rewards.  Rewards include restaurant coupons, retailers discounts, and tickets to shows and attractions. And new ones are added often.  GO MAINE also offers an Emergency Ride Home Benefit (ERH) to all registered GO MAINE NuRide members.  Check out their facebook page with regular updates about being a commuter in Maine!

Bowdoin EV Charging Stations: Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations are now available for the Bowdoin College community and campus visitors. Two level 2 chargers are located in the Russwurm Parking lot next to the John Brown Russwurm African-American Center on College Street.  The chargers can be utilized with any major credit card.  The cost is $1.00 per hour and cars must be moved when they are done charging. The charging payment station is managed by Greenlots.  Users can access the Greenlots website or app to track the availability of the charge stations as well as the progress of their charging once plugged in.  Users of iPhone (iOS5 or later) and Android (2.2 and up) can take advantage of the free Greenlots app which allows users to load funds onto the app and manage payments on site with their phone.
