Electricity

Electricity emissions at Bowdoin are dependant on two factors, how many kilowatt hours we use, and what the generating source of our power is.  While Bowdoin’s kWh use has risen steadily since 1995, 30% of the sources used to generate our electricity come from renewable and efficient resources.  In addition, starting in July of 2006 the College began offsetting the remaining electricity use with reneweable energy credits (RECs).  As part of Bowdoin's goal of eventual carbon neutrality, a number of actions are currently being undertaken to reduce our kWh usage.
