Water
- Fact: Last year Bowdoin used 43,410,180 gallons of water, at a cost of $142,673.06
- Take shorter showers. A 5 minute shower uses about 25-35 gallons of water, while a 10 minute shower uses around 50-70 gallons.
- Turn off the water when brushing your teeth, washing your face, and shaving.
- Tell facilities about leaky faucets; call x3333
A slow drip wastes 36 gallons and costs about $66 a year.
- Use only one glass at the cafeteria - it takes twice as much water to wash the glass than the glass can hold - you can get as many refills as you want.
- Share laundry loads with a friend! Washing large loads uses less water per clothing item than washing small loads.
