While some groups function with an annual operating budget, most student-run organizations are funded on an event-by-event basis. Funding is allocated by the Student Activities Funding Committee (SAFC), which is comprised of students and chaired by the Bowdoin Student Government Treasurer. Chartered organizations submit proposals to the Committee at weekly meetings, requesting funds for programming, events and projects that they would like to bring to campus. This funding process allows all organizations equal access to funding, regardless of the nature of the group or size of the group roster. This ensures that all organizations have the opportunity to be active on campus and bring a variety of activities to the Bowdoin community.
