The Spanish Program is committed to combining the pleasures of literary reading and cultural appreciation with passionate involvement in our academic discipline and intellectual community. All members of the department are actively engaged in scholarly production, and special opportunities exist for students to pursue rigorous work in Hispanic studies as an extension of work begun in a seminar, during the off-campus study experience, or in community engagement initiatives.
Honors and Independent Study
Advanced Spanish majors who have taken advantage of regular course offerings and wish to carry out in-depth research on a particular topic have the option of working one-on-one with a faculty member for a semester or a year toward the writing of a monographic essay.
