On Monday, March 9, 2009, Nathan Dwyer, 21, of Brunswick was arrested for burglary at the Bowdoin College Bookstore at Smith Union. Dwyer and a juvenile accomplice, a 16-year-old Brunswick male, forced open the south door at Smith Union and entered at 7:00 p.m.
The pair disabled a security camera and forced open the security gate at the main entrance to the bookstore. Several clothing items were stolen from the bookstore and the nearby Student Activities Office. Alerted by an intrusion alarm, Bowdoin Security officers responded with the Brunswick Police.
The juvenile was found hiding inside the bookstore. Dwyer fled the scene via the loading dock and was arrested a short while later. All stolen property was recovered.
Criminal trespass warnings were issued to Dwyer and the juvenile, barring them from all Bowdoin properties. Violation of a criminal trespass warning results in arrest. Dwyer was convicted of burglary in Cumberland County Superior Court in August 2009.
If you see Dwyer on or near any Bowdoin property, immediately contact the Office of Safety and Security at (207) 725-3500, or use a campus blue light emergency phone.
