Kelly Kerner

November 28, 2011

To Members of the Bowdoin Community,

I am pleased to announce that Kelly Kerner of Yarmouth will soon join us as Bowdoin's new Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. Kelly, who is currently Vice President for College Advancement at Bates, was the unanimous choice of our Search Committee for this critical role at the College. He comes to Brunswick with two decades of development and strategic leadership experience at Bates, Middlebury, and the University of Portland in Oregon. The full announcement about Kelly's appointment appears below and will be posted this afternoon to the Bowdoin Daily Sun and the Bowdoin website.

I am grateful to the members of our Search Committee—Stephen E. Gormley '72, David G. Brown '79, Deborah J. Barker '80, Leonard W. Cotton '71, John F. McQuillan '87, Abigail M. Psyhogeos '87, Aaron W. Kitch, Timothy M. Ryan '98, Sharon King, John K. Hilzinger '12, and Jessica R. Kohn '13—for their diligent and comprehensive work on behalf of the College. My thanks also to Becky Brodigan for her able staffing of our committee.

I am also grateful to Randy Shaw '82, who has served as interim director of development and alumni relations during the search. We have a tremendously talented and dedicated development and alumni relations staff at Bowdoin put together and led over twenty years by Bill Torrey. I am confident that Kelly will be able to lead the team to even greater heights in the years to come.

Please join me in welcoming Kelly Kerner to Bowdoin.

Sincerely,

Barry Mills
