Dear parents and guardians,
Welcome to the Bowdoin community. This website is designed to answer questions you may have about the College, and to provide useful information on the greater Brunswick community. You will find overviews of the academic program and campus life, programs of special interest to parents, as well as a list of relevant services in the area. The College calendar will keep you abreast of other major events and vacation schedules throughout the year. I hope you will find it a useful resource.
We are very happy to have your son or daughter (or maybe both!) at the College, and we also look forward to getting to know you. There are all kinds of ways to stay abreast of what is happening on campus. I recommend subscribing to the Bowdoin Daily Sun (it's free!) and the Bowdoin Orient, or reading the Orient on-line, if you prefer. The Bowdoin Daily Sun is published seven days a week during the academic year, and on weekdays during the summer. The Orient is published on Fridays during the academic year.
I do hope you will also be able to visit campus. If you live nearby, you have the opportunity to watch your daughter or son perform on the stage or on the field. I know that many parents enjoy following the Polar Bears on the road, and a good number of games are now broadcast on the web. And of course Family Weekend is a wonderful tradition that occurs every fall.
Your daughter's or son's Bowdoin experience will move quickly. These can be exciting and anxious times for parents. Please be assured that my colleagues and I stand ready to support and challenge your sons and daughters as they learn and explore new areas of interest. We would like these to be among “the best four years" of their lives!
I wish you and your Bowdoin student a successful and gratifying year ahead.

The Senior Parents Gift Campaign is an opportunity for all parents of seniors to celebrate the outstanding educational experiences their children have had during their four years at Bowdoin. Make a gift!
To be at home in all lands and all ages;
to count Nature a familiar acquaintance,
and Art an intimate friend;
to carry the keys of the world's library in your pocket,
and feel its resources behind you in whatever task you undertake;
to make hosts of friends...who are to be leaders in all walks of life;
to lose yourself in generous enthusiasms and cooperate with others for common ends –
this is the offer of the college for the best four years of your life.
