Congratulations to the Class of 2012!

In the past, approximately 70% of the incoming class has participated in the Pre-Orientation Trip Program. The Pre-Orientation Trips are the first activity of the academic year. They provide a great chance for first-year students to meet classmates, upperclass student leaders, faculty and administrative staff members in a relaxed and informal setting. In addition to exploring beautiful rivers, mountains, seas, and communities in Maine, it is also an exciting and fun way to start your first year of college. Students return to campus with a small group of friends to help with the entry to Bowdoin life. The cost of the trip is $400. Financial aid is available upon request.

Important Dates
  • Late May 2008 - Information and application materials for the Pre-O trips mailed to all incoming sudents.
  • June 1, 2008 - Applications are due and trips are assigned on a first-come basis.
  • June 30, 2008 - Application deadline. The trips are filled on a first-come, first-served basis based on postmark.
  • Mid-July 2008 - Acceptance information letter and equipment list mailed to all participants.

Pre-Orientation Week:

  • Tuesday, August 26th, 2008
    Arrive at Bowdoin - students can drop off items at their dorm rooms. Current Bowdoin students will be availible starting at 9:00 AM to open your room for you and help you get your things inside (we ask that students don't unpack until after your trip). After dropping off your items (or before), please stop by the Polar Bear in front of Smith Union to Check-in for your Pre-Orientation Trip.
  • Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 - 4:00 PM All First-year pre-orientation participants meet at Farley Field house.
  • Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 - Pre-Orientation Trips Depart
  • Saturday, August 30th, 2008 - 4:00 - 6:00 PM - Pre-O trips Return
  • Sunday, August 31th, 2008 - Orientation Week Begins
