Maine Telemark Film Festival

New England Telemark (NET) and the Bowdoin Outing Club (BOC) present the fifth annual Maine Telemark Film Festival, featuring the three finalists of the National Amateur Telemark Film Contest, and Lipstick Films' newest Telemark ski movie, Since We Last Spoke, at 7:00 PM, Friday, November 9, in Kresge Auditorium, in the Visual Arts Center on the Bowdoin campus.

The Maine Telemark Film Festival is free and open to the public. A lobby bazaar will feature refreshments, reps from resorts, gear manufacturers and local ski shops, and raffles prizes. For more information contact New England Telemark at 207-751-9319, telefilm@netelemark.com or visit www.netelemark.com.

By popular demand, this year's festival once again features homegrown tele flicks from around the country on the theme "What is the spirit of telemark to YOU?" Judges culled three finalists, whose 10-minute shorts will be shown at the fest, with the winning entries determined that night by the audience.

The Maine Telemark Film Festival, produced by New England Telemark and the Bowdoin College Outing Club, and with support from Atomic, Backcountry Access, Backcountry Magazine, Bomber Bishop, Black Diamond, Burnt Mountain Designs, Garmont, Joe Jones Ski & Sports, Mahoosuc Mountain Sports, Sugarloaf/USA, Sunday River, Scotty Bob, Teleboard, Aardvark Outfitters, Bath Cycle & Ski, Beckman AG, 22 Designs, and Wild Thing, celebrates and promotes the sport of telemark skiing in Maine, New England, and beyond.

New England Telemark is a group of telemark instructors dedicated to the teaching of the telemark turn. Originating in Maine in the early '90s, NET now includes over thirty instructors who to teach at NET Telemark festivals and clinics around New England. www.netelemark.com

The Bowdoin Outing Club, the largest student organization at Bowdoin, sends into the field more than 130 outdoor trips every year. The BOC Telemark Program provides PSIA-certified telemark instruction to BOC free-heelers in a season-long tele class.
