There is no limit to the hiking and swimming that can be done in the fall and spring, using the cabin as a base camp.  The winter offers opportunities for amazing snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding.

The BOC climbing wall is located in the Buck Fitness Center. The three story climbing wall and bouldering arch are open daily for climbing during monitored hours.

Hiking

Hiking is a great way to get outside for the day and enjoy the fresh air with no experience or equipment necessary. There are lots of local hikes near campus, and plenty more further afield.  The BOC also sends out backpacking trips all over Maine and New Hampshire in every season!

The Outing Club was fortunate to be the recipient of this generous land donation which we use as a base for trips, service projects, and Leadership Training.  Students can paddle or walk out to Bowdoin's very own island and enjoy an evening camping in the sea under the stars!

The BOC whitewater paddling program takes advantage of the excellent paddling opportunities available in Maine and the rest of the Northeast.  In the fall and spring, we take to the raging rivers in kayaks, canoes, and rafts, and run trips and classes for all ability levels! The Bowdoin Outing Club loves the snow! After the first snowfall, we start planning winter trips.  We run snowshoeing and cross country skiing trips almost every week.  We also offer classes in winter camping, mountaineering, and backcountry skiing.  Embrace the winter and get outside!
