Whether pursuing independent study, conquering stage fright, or embarking upon an off-campus study program on the other side of the world, Bowdoin students' spirit of discovery is alive and well. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the Outing Club. Over 300 members, more than 100 excursions per year — let the adventure begin!

On April 4th, a group of BOC leaders traveled to Windham High School to give a presentation as part of the "Life Happens Outside" T3 Conference 2010. The conference, which attracted 375 visitors from around the state, is a biennial event hosted by the organization Teens to Trails, a local nonprofit that provides grants and information to help Maine high schools establish outing clubs.

With the conclusion of the 2009-10 academic year quickly approaching, the Bowdoin Outing Club looks ahead as it congratulates its new officers for the upcoming year. The BOC will be headed by co-presidents Jonathan Coravos and Allison Chan, with Grace Hyndman and Elsie Thomson providing additional leadership in their respective roles as secretary and treasurer. Maine may have gotten less snow than usual this season, but plenty of Bowdoin students have still been taking advantage of nearby ski and snowboard opportunities. One group that's been hitting the slopes of Sugarloaf often this year is the Bowdoin Outing Club's telemark skiing class.

The BOC kicked off February with an intense weekend of bike building. Over the three-day period students worked in pairs to reconstruct completely disassembled bikes.

Monday - Thursday: 4 - 10 pm
Friday - Sunday: 3 - 6 pm
Certified climbers may boulder on the wall anytime the fitness center is open.
